Farm Wide Update: Almost Halfway Through the Year That’s Flying

Hey there, Hillsiders!

We can’t believe we’ve almost hit the halfway point of the year! Though the weather reminds us winter is coming, as we pull on our ugg boots, beanies and gloves each morning. The unpredictability of farming means this month we’ve had torrential downpours and floods, bogged trailers, an emergency department visit for a crushed finger (shout out to the fluoro pink finger cast) and a late frost – finishing off what was left of the garden after being visited by hungry deer.

With the lows have also come the highs: our biggest chicken batch yet, new additions to the beef herd (see cute calf pic below), new relationships with like-minded, highly-skilled professionals and much more.

Our Biggest Milestone Yet 🥹 🥳 🫶

We are so happy to announce that we are now at Carriageworks Farmers Market WEEKLY!

Catch us every Saturday morning from 8am-1pm!

Come and do your weekly grocery shop at Sydney’s best farmers market, and be sure to grab your pork and chicken from your friendly farmers at Hillside. We love that we can now be a part of your regular shop, as well as meet more market-goers each week.

Keep an Eye Out for NEW Products 🍲 🧈 🫙

At Hillside Food Forest, we’re big advocates for using the whole animal and reducing food waste. What better way to do this than to offer a range of products that do just that!

Introducing our new product ranges: Pasture Raised Pet Treats and Pork Lard.

We have a variety of products available from dried pig’s ears, trotters, and chicken jerky treats to baker’s lard and general cooking lard. Currently, these products are available at our Carriageworks stall. Are you interested in seeing these products on our website? Let us know.

New Regular Delivery Day 📦 🚛

Our regular delivery day has changed to every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. If you’ve placed an order online we will be in touch with your estimated delivery window at least 2 days prior. Did you know we currently offer free delivery to Greater Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast and Wollongong on all online orders?

Custom Orders 📝 🚚

We’ve been doing more and more custom orders lately! Most of the products on our website are standardised boxed products but we cater to custom requests as well ($100 minimum order). The process is simply:
1 🐷🐔 Let us know what you’re looking for (via email, text message or social media).
2 💳💸 We will send you an invoice for payment. If it’s a special cut you’ve requested that we don’t normally carry, we’ll take a deposit first, then the final amount once we know the weight.
3 📦🚚 Your purchase will then go into our delivery schedule.
4 🥓🍗 Eat delicious food

BEEF: Coming Soon! 🥩 🐄 🐮

We’ve been patiently waiting for our herd to grow in order to add beef to our offering. You’ve kept asking, and now we can finally deliver! In the coming weeks, a selection of beef products will be available online and in store. Keep an eye out on our socials (Facebook and Instagram - go follow if you’re not already!) as we’ll let you know when our Grass-Fed, Grass Finished Beef will be available.
