The food we eat should make us healthy.

It should do the same for our environment.

About Us

We (Sam and Liz) moved onto the farm in February 2021. We were able to purchase a mountainous, overgrazed, neglected 100acre property in Putty, NSW - about an hour north of Windsor in Sydney. We have a passion for regenerative agriculture and understand the importance of healthy food, free of chemicals.

With no farming experience (except from keeping chickens in our rental on Sydney’s Northern Beaches), 2021 & 2022 were all about learning - and it’s been great. We’ve taken courses, read books and generally experimented on our farm. We’ve established our beef herd - currently a mix of (Black Angus, Murray Grey and Lowline Black Angus), and we’ve got heritage breed pigs that love foraging on pasture. We’ve also learned how to produce meat chickens in a way that actually makes our farm better.

Our goal is to produce great quality tasting, highly nutritious, local food. And to do this in a way that sustains us, our community and makes the farm more healthy, more abundant and more diverse every year.

We believe ethical, chemical free farming should be the norm. Hillside Food Forest is our attempt to be part of the solution.
